A couple weeks before christmas and before my dad went into the hospital, he said those ever so familiar words to me.
“Kate, i’ve got a job for you.”
I rolled my eyes and asked him what he needed. To my surprise, he had an idea for a painting.
“I need for you to do a painting for me.” he said.
“A painting of some mountains, big mountains, with a kowabunga tree coming off the side of a cliff just like in Karate Kid.”
Well, I haven’t seen Karate Kid since I was young, and I soon realized that by Kowabunga tree, he meant bonsai tree.
I have done this painting in his memory, because it was one of the last favors he asked of me. My dad was the strongest man I have ever met in my entire life. He was our rock, seemingly immortal and indestructible just like the cliff in this painting.
Although he has passed away, I can still feel him with me, acting as my rock and support.
He will always be my invincible hero.
This is a work of art I posted on my website, blossomingeveryday. Here it is for you all to see. :)
